Robert Mitchum wrote and produced this crime drama, now considered a cult classic, in which he also stars. Lucas Doolin (Mitchum), a Korean War veteran, returns home to Tennessee to find the family business - 'moonshining' (or transporting illegal alcohol across state lines) - in trouble. Car chases abound as Doolin and his two brothers, Robin (James Mitchum) and Vernon (Trevor Bardette) race wildly through the night, trying to shake off not only the law-enforcing Treasury Department agents, but a local crime syndicate that is trying to muscle in on the Doolin family's hard-won territory.
