Wendell Armbruster, Jr. reist af naar Italië om zijn vader's lichaam op te halen na een auto-ongeluk. Hij ontdekt daar al snel dat zijn vader een affaire had met de moeder van de Engelse Pamela Piggott. Ze stonden bekend als hét romantische paar van het hotel waar ze verbleven.

A stuffy American tycoon goes to Italy to collect the body of his father but there he discovers that his father had a mistress and that she died in the same crash which killed him.
